Puppy Socialisation Course
Puppy socialisation is a crucial learning stage for your puppy. It takes place between about 0-16 weeks.
A pup will have to deal with a wide variety of experiences as an adult dog and puppy socialisation is just this - teaching the pup to deal with as many of these experiences as possible but in a positive, rewarding and controlled way. The pup should not be flooded with all these experiences in one go, rather they need to be spread throughout the socialisation period. This will set the grounding to help the puppy become bomb proof and to take life in his stride!
What the pup learns in these first few weeks will form the blueprint of what he will be like as an adult - this course therefore plays an important part in your pups development and learning.
This is a four week course for puppies up to 15 weeks at the start of the course. Class numbers are limited to 4 puppies only and it is therefore advisable to book as soon as you know you will be collecting your puppy.
The course will cover:
- Correct socialisation with people
- Correct socialisation with other dogs (controlled interaction, not a detrimental free for all puppy session)
- Advice on 'play-biting'
- House training
- Teaching the House Rules!
- Teaching the pup to read our emotions!
- Teaching the pup how to be patient and to deal with frustration
- Introducing the concept of sharing to prevent possessive problems
- Traffic Training
- Information on laws for dog ownership
- Introduction to basic obedience training techniques to form the grounding for a Basic Obedience Training Course
