Puppy Preparation

Taking on a new puppy is an exciting experience but it can also be an apprehensive and stressful time. These 1 hour sessions take place online via Zoom (or for those people unfamiliar with online learning, face to face) and will prepare you for your new pup and give you a chance to ask those all important questions before you collect your new arrival.

It is important to make sure you are well prepared to help them settle and for the experience to be as stress-free as possible for you as a family and the puppy!

This session can be followed, once the puppy arrives home, by the one to one Puppy Lifeskills Course for a full supportive package through puppyhood and to prepare for adolescence! - Puppy Lifeskills Course.  

• How to source a responsible breeder (if you haven't already)
• Questions to ask the breeder before making your decsion to buy
• Working with your breeder to help your pup make the transition to their new home as smooth as possible
• How to prepare for collection day
• The journey home
• What to expect in the first few days
• Things to do and not to do in those first few days
• Set up for success with housetraining
• What toys and equipment to buy (and what not to buy!)
• Crates, playpens and how to introduce them in the right way
• Prepare for the night time routine in the right way (we never let our puppies cry it out through the night)
• What puppy behaviour issues might be encountered and how to handle these correctly using positive reward based methods
• How to introduce your new puppy to other animals in the family
